Frequently Asked Questions

What is TentTowns.org about?

We are a philanthropic organization with the aim of working to bring relief and awareness to the plight of homeless people throughout the United States and around the world in general.

How does your product/service work?

We offer NFT collections to the public either for minting, or by way of direct sale of pre-minted items, through the OpenSea.io NFT platform only. These collections take the form of jigsaw puzzle pieces that users of OpenSea can mint or buy directly depending on the collection, which is facilitated through their own accounts. When a minted or sold NFT item is traded, we take 10% of the proceeds and then contribute a portion of that to benefit people who are either already homeless, or to try and help others avoid becoming homeless. This can take the form of both direct assistance given to needy individuals, or by way of making contributions to other public and private organizations that serve homeless people and needy people in general.

Why is an exact amount of proceeds to be contributed to homeless and needy persons not disclosed here?

Because if we gave an exact amount, then there is the strong potential for questions to be raised by interested or curious parties where it would be requested of us to show proof of how and to what extent we choose to administer funds, as in to ensure that we are being on the level so to speak. So we don't want to put ourselves in a position of having to prove ourselves all the time. All we will say is that our intention is to allocate a significant portion of proceeds as described, including that we intend to provide transparent evidence of where the proceeds are going to include dollar amounts, which will come in the form of published video testimonials to this website.

Is TentTowns.org a non-profit organization?

No, we are not a non-profit organization and any expenditures made on both the minting and outright purchasing of NFTs from our collections are not tax-deductible to our knowledge. However, if you have any further questions about this consideration, then we suggest you should consult with a qualified tax professional. And although we are not currently exploring the consideration for becoming a non-profit organization, that may be an option we will explore at some point in the future.

If I mint or purchase an NFT item and decide I don't like it, can I get a refund?

No, there are no options for refunds to be made on acquired NFT items whether on our end or on the end of the the OpenSea.io platform. If you decide you don't want to hold an acquired NFT item any longer, then all you can do is attempt to find a new buyer for it by listing it for sale yourself.

How can I contact you?

You can contact us through the Contact Form located on the HOME page of this site.

Is it true that the founder of TentTowns.org was actually homeless himself at one time?

Yes, that's absolutely true. He was homeless in Salt Lake City, Utah, back in 1990. But what he can tell you is that getting out of being homeless back then was a lot easier than it is for people who are homeless now.
